The Zippo timeline begins in the early 1930s, at the Bradford Country Club in Bradford, Pennsylvania. Mr. Blaisdell watched a friend awkwardly using a cumbersome Austrian-made lighter. The lighter worked well, even in the wind, due to the design of the chimney. But its appearance was utilitarian. Its use required two hands, and its thin metal surface dented easily.
Late in 1932, he decided to refashion the Austrian lighter. Mr. Blaisdell fabricated a rectangular case and attached the top of the lighter to the case with a hinge. He retained the chimney design which protected the flame under adverse conditions. The result was a lighter that looked good and was easy to operate. The first Zippo lighter, currently displayed at the Zippo/Case Museum in Bradford, was produced in early 1933 and sold for $ 1.95 each. And, from the very beginning, they were backed by Mr. Blaisdell’s unconditional lifetime guarantee – “It works or we fix it free. :tm:” The name “Zippo” was created by Mr. Blaisdell. He liked the sound of the word “zipper” so he formed different variations of the word and settled on “Zippo,” deciding that it had a “modern” sound.

A champion of free enterprise and U.S.-based manufacturing, Anthony Maglica is the president of Mag Instrument, Inc. and the creator of the MAGLITE:registered: flashlight, now an icon of classic American design.
Armed with only his talent, his determination and his reverence for hard work, Tony Maglica set out in pursuit of the American Dream when he founded Mag Instrument in 1955. When he went on to design and manufacture a product that revolutionized an industry, he realized that Dream in full. In his ongoing pursuit of innovative technology, quality products, design and the customer service to back them up, Mr. Maglica has found a strategy that not only creates worldwide demand for his own company’s products, but can also, he believes, help other American companies to build worldwide demand for their products while preserving American manufacturing jobs.
PB Swiss Tools

In 1916, the founder of the company, Paul Baumann, took over the forge and established the family-owned company PB Baumann GmbH. It has been producing tools since 1940. The renowned first screwdriver with the red transparent handle was developed by Max Baumann Sr. It is still a component of our product range today which we have been exporting successfully for 60 years now. Today, the pros of the industry and the do-it-yourselfers in mode than 70 countries select our premium tools.
Since 2011, we have been expanding the diversification of our assortment with medical instruments: OPERACE, the new instruments for removing metal, ensure gentle surgical procedures, short operating and recovery times.

At Princeton Tec, we've been pioneering new technologies and building lights since 1975. And yes, you could say it's been quite a ride. In our pursuit to be the world's best, we've travelled the earth by ocean, by air, by bike and by foot. We've consulted great athletes, scaled mountains, traversed the poles, touched the ocean floors and rolled two wheels on every continent. We are constantly inspired by what our ever evolving environments have to offer and the human spirit that challenges us to tackle them. This spirit, our spirit, motivates us to push technology and design, so that we can ensure that you have, not only the best lighting solutions, but solutions where technology is applied and the performance makes sense for how you use them.
Made in Germany is not just lip service, but a labor of love for us: the PAC Original multifunctional scarves are manufactured in Germany, even though today is generated virtually no clothing more in Germany. While Germany formerly part of the world's one of the most important textile suppliers, its significance has since the early 1960s, driven by the strong competition from the Far East by the prevailing low wages - strongly decreased.
EDELRID was founded by Julius EDELmann and Carl RIDder in 1863. At first, the company made braids and cords. Julius Edelmann was a salesman and mountaineer, Carl Ridder a technician, who specialised in braiding machines. The faces might have changed over the years but EDELRID remains an innovative and creative company to this day. In 1953 EDELRID invented the kernmantel rope and revolutionised the world of climbing. Materials and production techniques were constantly improved and then 11 years later, EDELRID produced a rope capable of withstanding multiple falls – the forerunner of the modern dynamic climbing rope. Climbing has never looked back since.
In 1942, Thule Group was founded by the Thulin family, when Erik Thulin, a true lover of the outdoors, put the Thule name on a so called pike fishing trap (a fishing gear) that he designed and began to sell to the fisherman of Scandinavia. It wasn’t long before he added other practical things to his company’s portfolio. Business grew, gaining profitably year after year.
By the 1960s, the company began to concentrate its business on car-related products that would make it easier for people to bring different gear with them. The first ski rack was introduced in 1962. In the 1970s, new product categories were added with the growth of new sports such as alpine skiing and new markets were also opened all over the world (e.g. USA, Japan).
Cascade Designs, Inc. began over 40 years ago with the simple idea of providing a more comfortable night outdoors. Since then, we have grown to become the parent company of some of the most respected brands in the outdoor industry. Though much has changed with this success, our recipe for achieving it has not. We believe that manufacturing the majority of our gear in our U.S. and European facilities is an essential element in maintaining quality, and that by striving to exceed our customers’ expectations of service, we will be successful for many years to come.
ZENA Economy Peeler: Indispensable in every kitchen, in gastronomy and at home!
People often ask what makes our products so unique. Our reply is always the same: "All our products are developed and produced with the same meticulousness and attention to detail as one expects from an original Swiss product (PDF). For example, ZENA does not make one product that cannot be used by left-handers. Moreover, an economy peeler is suitable for more applications than just peeling, and our customers are pleased that their favorite kitchen tool has been left unchanged and continues to be available in stores after so many years. We have stayed true to our principles for more than 60 years – one reason why our products are found in almost every kitchen of the world, whether in the gastronomy industry or at home.

The RED CHILI climbing brand is inseparably linked to the name of Stefan Glowacz. The professional climber and triple Arco Rock Master winner founded the brand with the pepper with Uwe Hofstädter over 20 years ago.
The climbing professional and co-founder of Red Chili has expanded his climbing by the dimension "adventure". Renewed Towers over a new, 9th grade route. By fair means, he paddled through the wild fjords of Greenland in a kayak, in order to find the ideal route on a godforsaken granite pillar. Even on the hardest on-sights and longest-climbing routes, he never seems to run out of power. The Experiences of the Red Chili. But let's start from the beginning ....

At Wildo we are driven by the belief that all people are entitled to more nature. Deep forests, high mountains and open waters. Simply more outdoors. Proven under Swedish conditions for decades, our campware is made to be trusted. Anywhere and everywhere! We think it should be easy to just pack your gear and head outside! And so did Ingvar Svantesson in 1979. He decided it was time to improve the conditions for hikers, campers and all other outdoor enthusiast, by reducing the camp wear to a minimum. Function was crucial to the design. It had to be as lightweight, durable and as compact as possible.
Ingvar shared his vision with Jan Andersson, a former captain in the Swedish Army. Jan understood that this type of product needed to work even in the most primitive conditions. Together they introduced a new age of tableware and accessories to the outdoor world. Ensuring high standards regarding quality and material along with respect for the human and environmental resources, the duo decided to manufacture the products in the local surroundings of there home, Borås, Sweden. Now more than 35 years later this is still one of our prime guide lines.
We built our first clock in 1920, and we’re deeply gratified to say that the same loving care and craftsmanship that went into our first clock, still goes into every Loetscher cuckoo clock built today, making each one a truly timeless timepiece. We’re also proud to say that we’re the only genuine Swiss chalet cuckoo clock maker in existence today.
Loetscher AG operates two facilities in different parts of Switzerland that have specific duties in the manufacturing of the clocks. All of the initial steps involved in building the clocks are done in the woodworking facility in Brienz, a small village in central Switzerland in the canton of Berne.
